How should you use this medication?
Take this medication by mouth with a glass of water. Take it as directed on the prescription label at the same time every day. You can take it with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food. Take all of this medication unless your care team tells you to stop it early. Keep taking it even if you think you are better. Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While it may be prescribed for children for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

How should this medicine be used?
Swallow the capsules whole; do not split, chew, or crush them. Take the capsules with a full glass (6 to 8 ounces [180 to 240 mL]) of water so that the medication will not irritate your throat. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after you take clindamycin capsules; sit upright or stand upright until at least 30 minutes have passed.
Side Effects
What are the possible side effects of this medicine?
- Serious allergic reactions: Skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Severe reactions: Redness, blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin (including inside the mouth), severe or prolonged vomiting or diarrhea, fever, unusual vaginal discharge, itching, or odor.
- Mild side effects: Diarrhea, headache, nausea, or vomiting (usually do not require medical attention but report if persistent or bothersome).
